EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State gymnastics program will hold its annual Green and White meet on Friday, Dec. 8, in the third floor practice facility at Jenison Field House. Admission is free to the event.
"With such a young team, we are very excited about seeing them in action in front of the judges and our Spartan fans," Spartan head coach Kathie Klages said. "We have had a few practice meets in which the team performed extremely well, beating our 2006 season-opening score by four points. We have such a talented team and are anxious to get this season underway."
The Spartans ended the 2006 season with a second-place finish at the Big Ten Championship Meet and a trip to the NCAA Central Regionals held on the campus of Louisiana State University. The regional meet appearance was the 15th in Spartan history, and the eighth under Klages.
Michigan State returns eight letterwinners and brings seven newcomers to the gym for the 2007 season, while associate head coach Randy Lane will also make his debut with the Green and White staff. MSU begins the 2007 regular season with a home meet versus Arizona, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. on the main floor in Jenison Field House.
