EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis head coach Erica Perkins announced Monday that four players have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Michigan State next fall and compete for the 2007-08 Spartan tennis team.
The signees include Lindsey Lonergan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), Michelle Murphy (Irvine, Calif./Mater Dei), Manon Noe (Liancourt, France/Lycee Cassini) and Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ill./William Henry Harrison). Each of the American girls is ranked in the top 35 of their region (Lonergan-22, Murphy-27, Wilson-33) and in the top 160 by Tennisrecruiting.net (Murphy-58, Wilson-129, Lonergan-160). Noe is a top recruit from France, with a -2/6 ranking.
"I couldn't be more thrilled with my first recruiting class at Michigan State," said Perkins. "I set out this summer and fall to find players who not only had the talent to get it done in the Big Ten and nationally, but also had the hunger and desire to improve. All four of the girls are great fits for the program both athletically and academically, and they possess the potential to come in and contribute immediately."

Coming from a strong section like Southern California, Michelle has been competing at a high level for much of her junior career. Michelle has the big time wins; she knows how to get it done on the court. We can't wait to get her in the Green and White!"

Perkins on Wilson. "One of the priorities in this class was to sign players who could contribute in the singles and doubles lineups. No one is a better example than Whitney. She is one of the most exciting players to watch on the doubles court, and in the last couple years she's really started to pile up big singles wins. Whitney will bring some fire power to our program."
