Women's Tennis Finishes Day Two of Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Michigan State women's tennis team completed day two of the Wildcat Invitational. Although the Spartans were defeated in the main draw, several members of the team were successful in their consolation matches.
Ana Milosavljevic was defeated in singles for the first time this season by Ashley Moccia of Western Michigan (6-4, 6-4) in the quarterfinal round of flight three of singles.
In flight four singles, Marianne Eelens made it to the semifinal round before falling to Stephanie Menoff (6-3, 6-0).
In doubles flight two, Eelens and Milliken were defeated by Bojana Murisic and Morgan Tuttle of Wisconsin in the semifinal round, 8-3.
Sarah Andrews and Milosvaljevic rallied back in doubles after yesterday's loss to defeat Jenna Nussbaum and Kelsey Jakupcin of Bowling Green in the consolation round. Pascale Schnitzer also came back in the consolation round to defeat Mariana Splica of Minnesota (6-3, 6-1).
"We made a lot of progress today," said MSU head coach Erica Perkins. "The girls came out focused and determined to improve from yesterday and it showed. Everyday we are getting a little stronger and a little smarter on the court. and it will pay big dividends in the spring. Hats off to Pascal Schnitzer who had a rough day yesterday and bounced back and played extremely well today."
The Spartans will close out play in the Wildcat Invitational beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m.
