Junior running back Brett Kahn rushed for a season-high 25 yards on six carries and scored the first touchdown of his career, a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter. He scored another touchdown later in the quarter on a 13-yard pass from Brian Hoyer.
Sophomore quarterback Brian Hoyer threw his second touchdown pass of the season, a 13-yard strike to Brett Kahn in the fourth quarter. Hoyer finished 4-of-6 passing for 49 yards.
Sophomore Devin Thomas, making his first career start, recorded season-bests against the Hoosiers with four catches for 82 yards. He scored the first touchdown of his career on a 38-yard reception from Drew Stanton during the first drive of the game.
Senior wide receiver Matt Trannon caught two passes for 19 yards against the Hoosiers. He now has 131 career receptions, which ties him with Plaxico Burress for eighth in Michigan State history.
Sophomore safety Otis Wiley led the team in tackles with eight, marking the fifth time this season he has led the team in tackles.
Junior bandit SirDarean Adams led the team with 2.5 tackles for loss, the most by a Spartan player this season. He picked off a pass for 38 yards in the fourth quarter, his second pick of the season and fifth of his career. He also posted his first sack of the season, a 9-yard loss in the second quarter.
Junior defensive end Ervin Baldwin registered his team-leading fourth sack of the season.
The Spartan defense forced three fumbles (Clifton Ryan, Brandon Long and David Herron Jr.) and picked up two fumble recoveries (Ogemdi Nwagbuo and Ervin Baldwin).
Michigan State leads the all-time series over Indiana, 38-15-2, including an 18-9-1 record in games in Bloomington, Ind.
IU's win today marks the first win for the Hoosiers over Michigan State in Bloomington since 1993.
MSU has won eight of the last 10 meetings against Indiana.
The 46-21 Hoosier win snaps MSU's four-game winning streak over Indiana and it's the first Hoosier victory over the Spartans since 2001.
