EAST LANSING, Mich. - Comcast Local has announced that it will pick up six Michigan State sporting events this winter in addition to its hockey slate, including two live women's basketball games, two tape-delayed wrestling meets and two tape-delayed gymnastics events.
Comcast Local will be on hand for live broadcasts against Final Four participant Louisiana State on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and for the Spartans' Jan. 18 sojourn to Michigan for the 7 p.m. contest. Both games are rivalry games for the Spartans, as the team will look to pay the Tigers back after a 72-52 loss on the bayou last season. The Spartans also will be on TV for traditional Big Ten rival Michigan, who has lost its last eight games with the Green and White.
W.I.N. Magazine's 18th-ranked Spartans will hit the mats in front of the Comcast Local cameras twice in Jenison Field House, with the first coming against fifth-ranked Missouri, which includes 2006 174-pound national champion Ben Askren in its lineup. The meet will take place on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m., but will be tape-delayed, as will the Jan. 28 match in Jenison with rival and seventh-ranked Michigan at 7 p.m.
The Spartan gymnastics squad will also have two events aired on Comcast Local, as the State of Michigan Classic on Feb. 3 will air on tape-delay and the dual meet with 2006 NCAA Championship qualifier Michigan on March 3 will do the same. Both events have 7 p.m. start times in Jenison Field House.
