EAST LANSING, Mich. - Despite the sunshine, windy conditions on Lake Ovid have thwarted the Michigan State rowing team's plans to race against Notre Dame on Tuesday, April 12.
Head coach Matt Weise and the coaching staff announced the decision to cancel all events on Tuesday morning, citing excessive wind that led to white-capped waves on the lake. Given weather conditions, the potential for equipment damage and, more importantly, the safety of the athletes had to be taken into consideration.
Because the season is well underway, rescheduling the competition will probably not be an option for the Spartans. Still, MSU looks forward to upcoming weekend competition against talented conference opponents. The Spartans travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., where they will face Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin on Saturday, April 16.
