Allison Haring (Grand Ledge, Mich.) earned four varsity letters, not only in gymnastics, but also for her contributions to her high school's diving and equestrian teams as well.
Bethany Little (Franklin, Tenn.) saw action in regional competition throughout all four years of her prep career (2001-04) at Let It Shine gymnastics and made it all the way to the National Championships in 2003.
Holly Weber (Bel Air, Md.) was a five-time J. O. National Team Member, and placed 10th in the all-around competition in the 2000 J. O. National Championship.
Q: Talk about making the move from high school competition to a Division I program like Michigan State gymnastics.
Holly Weber: It's a big change. I came from a really small club, so to join a team of 18-19 girls is very exciting.
Bethany Little: It's a big change, but it's awesome.
Allison Haring: It's really fun for me because the team is so close, inside and outside the gym. It reminds me of high school a little, because my high school team was close too, but it is on a different level here.
Q: What is it like to be part of such a diverse, well-rounded group of young women?
AH: It is fun because we are diverse. We're all different, but we get along so well. It's fun to hear about people's backgrounds and experiences in different areas.
HW: Kristin Coleman is from Canada, and it is fun to hear about stuff like that.
BL: Jenna Rivers is from New York, and its fun to hear her accent.
Q: Do you call soft drinks `pop', `soda', `coke' or something else?
HW: It's Coke.
BL: Coke.
AH: It's soda!
Q: Did you have any expectations when you chose to come to Michigan State that you found out weren't true when you got to campus?
AH: I guess I didn't have any expectations. I didn't know what would happen, but I'm loving it.
HW: Whatever happens, happens.
BL: It was a big adjustment. You get one room, and you live in a box-sized room in the dorms. It's all part of the experience, though.
Q: If there were an award for the goofiest person on the team, who would win and why?
Unanimous: Christi Kurtz.
AH: She's crazy. She is one of a kind.
BL: She's unique. She's definitely the center of our group.
Q: What are some of the things you've learned from the upperclassmen on the team?
HW: Team unity is very important. They came and gave us cookies when we were moving in, and we had tailgates for a lot of the football games.
BL: You've got to have team unity or you aren't going to do very well because you're with each other every single day. We even travel to meets together and room with each other.
AH: I don't know what I would do if our upperclassmen were mean. They are amazing.
Q: What CD is playing in your car right now?
BL: Tim McGraw.
AH: Tim McGraw.
HW: Nothing country! I don't like country. I think right now I have Ludacris.
Q: What is your favorite event?
BL: Bars, because you get to do lots of crazy things.
HW: I like vault, because it is short but powerful.
AH: I'd say vault, too.
