
Michigan State Men's Tennis Falls To Louisville, 5-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 52 Michigan State men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to No. 30 Louisville Sunday, March 20 on the road. The loss drops the Spartans' record to 10-6 on the season and improves Louisville's record to 14-7.
In doubles action, MSU was unable to secure the first point of the day, winning only one of the three contests. At No. 1 doubles, freshman Nick Rinks and senior Andrew Formanczyk fell to Jakob Gustafsson and Jeremy Clark, 8-5. No. 2 doubles got the only Spartan win in doubles with freshmen Adam Monich and Brian Compton defeating Slavko Radman and Octavian Nicodim in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5). At No. 3 doubles, Louisville edged past MSU with Damar Johnson and Mark Kennedy beating sophomore Michael Flowers and senior Cameron Marshall, 8-6. Louisville's two victories at doubles gave them the 1-0 lead early in the match.
MSU pulled off two victories in singles, but it was not enough to give the Spartans the win. At No. 1 singles, Formanczyk dominated the court, defeating Johnson, 6-1, 6-2. Louisville's Radman took the point at No. 2 singles, defeating Marshall 7-5, 6-4. At No. 3 and 4 singles, Louisville netted two more victories against the Spartans. Flowers earned MSU's second point of the day, winning at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4. At No. 6, Clark defeated senior Anthony Stefani, 6-3, 6-3.
MSU will travel back home for a battle with Big Ten rival Michigan, Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m.
