BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Tammy Jones (Conyers, Ga.) finished 11th in the 100 freestyle with an NCAA `B' qualifying time of 50.60 as the Michigan State women's swimming and diving team concluded the 2005 Big Ten Championships Saturday at Indiana's Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The Spartans ended the meet in 11th place with 84 points, while Penn State captured the team championship with 693 points.
"I'm happy for all of the individuals that competed well this week, but overall, the meet was very disappointing," said MSU head coach Matt Gianiodis.
Junior Tesla Hughes (Taft, Tenn.) joined Jones in scoring points for MSU with her 15th-place finish in the 1,650 free event with a season-best time of 17:00.00.
Jones teamed up with juniors Rachael Hagerman (Goodland, Kan.), Katrina Kniff (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Marsena Vranesic (Lebanon, Pa.) to finish 10th in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:25.48.
