
Swimming And Diving Teams To Compete In OSU Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the Ohio State Invitational this weekend, in Columbus Ohio. The three-day meet will run from Friday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 4. The invitational will feature 12 universities, including six men's swimming teams, seven women's swimming teams and a total of 12 diving teams. On each side, four of the attending teams are ranked in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll.
"What we always want to do is continue to improve," head coach Matt Gianiodis said. "Hopefully we can get some NCAA cuts this weekend, but our biggest hope is that we improve our position and can start with some good times in the second semester."
Men's swimming teams attending include: Iowa, Kenyon, Michigan State,#9 Minnesota, #20 Ohio State and #23 Penn State. Diving teams attending will be Arizona State, Bowling Green, #7 Florida, Kenyon, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, #9 Minnesota, #20 Ohio State, #23 Penn State and #14 Purdue.
The women's swimming field will be comprised of Bowling Green, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, #20 Ohio State and #12 Penn State while the diving field consists of #25 Arizona State, Bowling Green, #4 Florida, Kenyon, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, #12 Penn State and #21 Purdue.
"There are going to be a lot of Big Ten teams there, so it will give us an idea as to how we size up against some of those teams," Gianiodis added. "It's going to be fun because it is a brand new pool and it is going to be the site for the women's Big Ten Championship this year, so we are excited to see the pool."
