Michigan State Gymnastics Welcomes Dani Fanning

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State gymnastics program is pleased to announce the addition of Dani Fanning to its 2006 roster. A native of Glendale, Ariz., Fanning plans to graduate early from Paradise Valley High School and join the team for the spring semester. She is expected to have an immediate impact on MSU's Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise rotations.

"We're thrilled with the addition of Dani," head coach Kathie Klages said. "She is a great talent, who will be able to come in and compete for us right away."

Fanning competed at the club level for the Arizona Sunrays, where she was coached by former Spartan gymnast Dan Witenstein. A two-time level 10 regional qualifier, Fanning placed fourth on Beam and fifth on Floor at the 2004 regional championships. In 2005 she repeated her fifth-place performance on the Floor Exercise and added a fifth-place finish on Beam.

In 2002, Fanning captured the level 9 Balance Beam regional championship and was a Western champion on Floor.

She is the daughter of Ace and Debbie Fanning and has one brother, A.J., and four sisters Kristin, Stevie, Stacy and Jenna. Kristin competed as a collegiate gymnast at Arizona State University, while Stevie was a gymnast at the University of Arizona.
