EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team fell to Penn State, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship on Friday afternoon at Northwestern. The Nittany Lions scored midway through the first half and blanked the Spartans for the second time this season. With the loss, MSU falls to 8-6-5, while Penn State improves to 11-6-2.
Penn State got on the board in the 27th minute on a goal from Brian Devlin. After a no-look pass from Jason Yeisley, Devlin found himself one-on-one with MSU goalkeeper Jason Tillman (Brighton, Mich.) and was able to put the ball just out of Tillman's reach and into the back of the net. The score remained 1-0 until the 89th minute when Yan Carvalho scored to produce the final margin.
