Men's Soccer Kicks Off Long Home Stretch

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team will host Oakland University at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Old College Field. After spending the majority of the first part of the season on the road, the Green and White open a six-game homestand with games against Oakland, Ohio State (10/9), Notre Dame (10/11), Michigan (10/16), Penn State (10/23), and Western Michigan (10/26). Michigan State (3-2-4, 0-1-1) has not played six straight games at home since 1990.
Three of the six games are Big Ten conference contests, and will play a significant part in seeding for the Big Ten Tournament. With perennial favorite Indiana tying the Spartans and taking a loss at Penn State last weekend, the race for the number one seed is wide open.
Last week, with two assists against Bowling Green, senior midfielder and co-captain Ryan McMahen (Munster, Ind.) moved into second place on MSU's career assists list, with 28.
After hosting Oakland, the Spartans return to Big Ten action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
