Post-Game Quotes
Purdue head coach Kristy Curry
On the play of Michigan State...
"I think that when you have two seniors like they do, and (Liz) Shimek, (Rene) Haynes, (Victoria) Lucas-Perry and all those kids returning, they've played together for a long time so they understand each others' strengths and weaknesses. So give them a lot of credit. I've given credit to them about four times and I mean every bit of it."
On MSU head coach Joanne P. McCallie...
"Obviously she's done a tremendous job. How could you not with the facilities and everything that they have. When you walk into the facilities in the Big Ten, there is not a better facility as far as basketball-oriented than Michigan State's. It has a lot to sell. Not only is she is a tremendous role model, she's a mom and a basketball coach. It's the entire package at Michigan State."
Michigan State head coach Joanne P. McCallie
Opening Statement...
"I loved our first-half defense in particular. Twenty-five assists was absolutely great for us. We had not done that yet this year. And really the seniors - Kristin Haynie and her complete game and the way she attacked, her game was just solid and very strong. We can certainly get a lot better but it's great to see some really hard-fought effort out there by everybody. And also a shout out to Kristin, 1,000 points; she's big time. She's got so many things going I can't keep track of her. Assists, steals, she's too much for me."
On having three players hit the 1,000-point mark this year (Haynie, Kelli Roehrig, and Lindsay Bowen)... "That's really cool. I don't know how often that happens. I'm sort of struck by it. I don't think that's ever happened to me as a coach. I think it's incredible and we have some terrific people on this team."
Senior guard Kristin Haynie
On scoring 1,000 points for her career...
"It feels great, but the best thing about it is that we got 25 assists as a team. We just played awesome. We played a great all-around game. We kind of let up on defense but our offense had a great shooting percentage, 56 percent from the field. Everyone on the bench kept reminding me about (hitting the 1,000-point plateau). I wasn't forcing anything, though."
Sophomore guard Victoria Lucas-Perry
On coming back after a loss against Penn State... "We definitely realized after the Penn State game that we need to keep playing. We took the lead from Penn State and didn't finish the game. We really focused on finishing the game tonight."
On the killer instinct the team had tonight...
"We definitely came out ready to play. Purdue came out to win also, but we really took that loss to heart and learned that we really need to come out ready to play and be ready for business every night."
Senior center Kelli Roehrig
On going 10-13 in field goals...
"The paint felt pretty open tonight. Coach was trying to push me in the lane but the guards were getting in the right spots and leading me right to the basket."
On bouncing back after the Penn State game...
"It was definitely really important to come out strong today especially in our defense, it's what we lacked at Penn State. We wanted to come out and attack and that is what we did."
