
Women's Soccer Posts 1-0 Shutout Win At Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Michigan State women's soccer team stretches its unbeaten streak to three games Sunday, defeating Minnesota, 1-0, at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. With the win, MSU improves to 8-2-1 (2-1-1 Big Ten) on the season, while Minnesota falls to 3-6 (0-4 Big Ten).
The Spartans took the lead in the 22nd minute of the first half on a shot from 15 yards out by forward Erin Konheim (Jr./West Bloomfield) that beat Golden Gopher goalkeeper Molly Schneider. Forward Emma Harris (Jr./Portage) and midfielder Adrienne Treado (Sr./Troy) collected assists on the goal.
Minnesota had a couple of chances to tie the score late in the game thwarted by senior goalkeeper Erin Carlson (Portage), who preserved the shutout for Michigan State. Carlson finished the game with five saves to record her fourth shutout win of the season.
MSU and Minnesota recorded 18 shot attempts for the game, but the Spartans held a 1-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Spartans will battle Ohio State in Big Ten action on Friday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. to open a two-game weekend homestand at Old College Field.
