Men's Golf Finishes 16th At Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Michigan State men's golf finished in 16th place at the 2004 Boilermaker Invitational, which was played at the par 72, 7,035-yard Kampen Course, on Sunday, April 11. The Spartans shot a three-round score of 915 (307-298-310), including a 310 in Sunday's final round.
Host Purdue won the tournament title with an 855 (285-277-293), while Colorado was the runner-up with an 857 (288-284-285). Kentucky (867), TCU (872) and Indiana (878) round out the top-five teams. Colorado's Kane Webber took medalist honors after firing a 206 (71-69-66).
Individually, junior Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.) led the Spartans, finishing tied for 49th. Ruthkoski shot a three-round score of 226 (78-72-76). Freshman Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, Mich.) tied for 56th with a 228 (74-76-78).
Rounding out the Spartan line-up was senior Casey Lubahn (Sand Lake, Mich.), who tied for 69th with a 232 (78-75-79); senior Ben Fox (Fort Wayne, Ind.), who tied for 77th with a 234 (80-77-77); and freshman Mitch Pierce (Fenton, Mich.), who tied for 80th with a 235 (77-75-83).
MSU returns to the links April 17-18 at the Kepler Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
