Michigan State Women's Crew: Novice Eight Wins At Michigan

Belleville, Mich. - Michigan State top-flighted varsity fours and novice eights faced fierce competitors Clemson, Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan and Michigan in the Spartans' first formal regatta of the Spring season.
The Green and White enjoyed a successful day on the water, taking several second-place finishes and a first place victory at the Wolverine-hosted regatta on Saturday, March 27.
The Spartan novice eight won its race and recorded 6:47.0 for the 2000-meter piece, an effort that enabled MSU to defeat Clemson (6:51.2) and Notre Dame (7:01.3), Michigan (7:10.3) and Eastern Michigan (7:35.8.)
The A-Flight Green and White four finished at 7:17.2, which earned them second-place behind Notre Dame's 7:14.8.
MSU's B-flight varsity four also finished second, recording 7:26.7, behind U of M (7:17.3), while the Irish (7:36.9) rounded out the race in third place.
The Spartan C-Flight varsity four finished third, having been defeated by both Notre Dame and Michigan.
State was the only program entered in the second novice eight category, with two boats in the race. The Spartans finished the race at 7:02.3 and 7:21.0.
Next, MSU rejoins forces with its complete varsity squad to travel to Indianapolis, Ind., where the Green and White will face Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame on April 10.
