EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team will wrap up its three match spring break trip in Florida as the Spartans take on Florida A&M this afternoon (March 5). The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Gaither Tennis Complex in Tallahassee. MSU will try to improve to 8-6 on the season before returning to Big Ten action against No. 33 Michigan on March 15 in Ann Arbor.
The Spartans split their first two matches in Florida, defeating Jacksonville, 4-2, and falling to a tough Richmond team in a 4-3 thriller. The Rattlers of Florida A&M are 5-4 on the season and were topped by the Spartans last spring, 6-1.
This will be MSU's third outdoor match as it prepares to continue its Big Ten season. Freshman Jean Willman (Alberton, Australia) is 2-0 in singles play on the three-match trip and every Spartan that has played a singles match on spring break has at least one victory. Sophomore Keri Thompson (Clark Lake, Mich.) continues to lead the team in wins with 16 and is 9-1 in singles and 7-3 in doubles competition for the spring.
Match results will be posted when they become available
