Spartans Women's Track Opens Outdoor Season

RALEIGH, N.C. - Junior Sherita Williams (Tampa, Fla.) placed seventh in the long jump to highlight the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays as the Michigan State women's track team opened the 2003 outdoor season. Williams soared 19-5 1/2 on her best jump of the day.
Junior Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs) placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 45-11 1/4, while freshman Erica Bailey (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished 12th with a toss of 43-9.
Sophomore Danielle Linenger (Washington) tied for 14th in the high jump with a leap of 5-5.
In the relays, MSU placed 10th out of 25 teams in the Sprint Medley Relay, finishing with a time of 4:06.97, while the Spartans finished 10th out of 21 squads in the 4x1500-meter relay in 19:25.81.
The second and final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays will take place Saturday, March 29.
