Volleyball Signs Two To National Letters Of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball coach Chuck Erbe signed two players to National Letters of Intent for the 2004 season, he announced Thursday. Maggie Griffin of St. Charles, Ill., and Meghan Schoen from Aurora, Colo., will compete for the Spartans in 2004.
"This is an excellent signing class with two very high-level athletes," said Erbe. "They certainly fit our needs as a program. I believe they will both be major contributors to Michigan State volleyball throughout their careers."
Maggie Griffin, 6-1, Setter, St. Charles, Ill./Rosary HS
Named MVP of the 2003 USA 18-Open National Championship... Club team, Sports Performance Volleyball Club out of West Chicago, Ill., won the 2003 USA 18-Open National Championship... Is a top 10 recruit nationally... Tabbed as a Fab 50 selection... Regarded as one of the best setters in the nation coming out of club and high school volleyball.

"Maggie is one of the most gifted setters in the nation coming out of the club system. She has been a setter her entire volleyball career and has proven herself to be a championship-level athlete. I expect her to compete for the starting setter position from the beginning of her freshman year."

Named first-team all-state in the largest classification in Colorado in 2003... Cherry Creek played in the 2003 5A state tournament... Named the Denver Post's Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 7, 2003... Plays with the Colorado Performance Club, coached by John Casey.
