Women's Soccer Loses At Penn State, 2-0

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team lost to Penn State, 2-0, here on Friday (Oct. 3). The Nittany Lions improved to 9-2-2 (3-1-0 Big Ten) with the win, while Michigan State fell to 7-3-0 (3-2-0 Big Ten) with the loss.
The game got off to a slow start with neither team scoring in the first half. Penn State attempted eight shots, while MSU only attempted two. In the second half, Penn State's Tiffany Weimer scored the first goal at 46:21. Weimer scored again in the 73rd minute of the game.
Penn State outshot MSU, 24-3, and attempted six corner kicks to the Spartans' three. The game marked the second time this season the Spartans have been shut out.
Spartan Stacy Heller (Sr. Madison, Wis.)finished the game with seven saves compared to Penn State goalkeeper Amanda Brown who completed the shutout with only one stop.
MSU travels to Ohio State for a conference match on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. MSU returns to home action at Old College Field on Friday, Oct. 10.
