Women's Soccer Loses 1-0 To Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Michigan State women's soccer team lost to Ohio State, 1-0, on Sunday (Oct. 5) at Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes improved to 8-1-2 (2-1-2 Big Ten) with the win, while Michigan State fell to 7-4-0 (3-3-0 Big Ten) with the loss.
The game got off to a slow start with neither team scoring in the first half, while Ohio State attempted nine shots and MSU attempted five. At the end of the second half, Ohio State's Emily Gilbert scored the only goal of the game at 82:49, off a corner kick from the Buckeyes' Erica Nollen.
Ohio State out-shot MSU, 19-11, and attempted three corner kicks to the Spartans' one.
Spartan Stacy Heller (Sr., Madison, Wis.) finished the game with five saves compared to Ohio State goalkeeper Staci Sinkway whom completed the shutout with three.
MSU returns to home action this weekend at Old College Field when it hosts Purdue on Friday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. and Indiana on Sunday Oct. 12 at 12 p.m.
