Carly Weiden Advances To NCAA Championships In 1-Meter Diving

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Four Michigan State divers competed at the NCAA Region C Diving Zones Friday night (March 15) at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center hosted by Purdue University. Carly Weiden (Sr., East Kentwood/Kentwood), the 2002 Big Ten Diver of the Year, scored a 288.50 in the women's 1-meter diving event to advance to the NCAA Championships March 21-23 in Austin, Texas. The cut to qualify for the NCAA Championships was a score of 255.
Also competing for the women were Stephanie Anisko (Jr., Mississauga, Ont./Philip Pocock) and Kelly Baldwin (Fr., Rochester Hill/Adams). Anisko scored a 227.50 and Kelly Baldwin scored a 163.40 for the Spartans.
Nick Visscher (Jr., Holland/Holland) was the lone competitor for the men and scored a 395.05 in the 3-meter diving event. The cut for the event to qualify for the NCAA Championships was a score of 310.
The women's 3-meter and the men's 1-meter diving events will be held Saturday afternoon (March 16) at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
