Kate Duncombe Qualifies For NCAA Women's Swimming Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Kate Duncombe (Jr., Erie, Pa./McDowell) has qualified to compete in the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the NCAA women's swimming and diving championships March 21-23 in Austin, Texas. After the last regular season meets were completed last weekend, head coach Jim Lutz announced that Duncombe's times were among the top-30 in the country and qualified for the championships.
Duncombe swam a season-best time of 55.85 in the 100 backstroke at the Miami Invitational Nov. 30. She broke the school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.29 at the Big Ten Championships, beating her previous record of 2:00.71.
Duncombe also swam in the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the 2000 NCAA Championships.
