Swimming and Diving Heads To Pittsburgh Invite

The Michigan State swimming and diving teams travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday, Nov. 22, for a three-day invitational at the University of Pittsburgh at the Trees Pool. The Spartans will join Buffalo, Connecticut, Texas A&M and host Pittsburgh at their first invitational of the season.
APPING THE WEEK
Michigan State (Men: 0-6, 0-2 Big Ten / Women: 2-3, 0-1 Big Ten) split the weekend. The men fell to Eastern Michigan by a score of 107.5-135.5, but the women claimed a 128-115 victory in their home debut. The Spartan women posted a 1-2 punch in four events and the men claimed five individual event titles.
KING AT THE PITTSBURGH INVITE
Buffalo: The Buffalo men are 0-2 on the season, suffering a pair of losses to conference foes Ohio and Ball State...Freshmen diver, Patrick Lee, has captured event titles on three of his four events this season...The women are currently 2-3 on the season...The Bulls are currently led by Jennefer Brankovsky, who won three events for UB in their recent victory over Bowling Green.
Connecticut: The UConn men post a 4-3 record on the season...They captured every first-place title at their last meet - a 156-129 triumph over Boston University...The Connecticut women improved to 4-2 on the season after downing Boston University last weekend...The Huskies posted victories in nine of the 14 events.
Pittsburgh: The Panther men are 2-2 this season...they upset No. 18 Northwestern, but fell to unranked Purdue in their last meet...Mike Grube led the way, winning two events...the women's team is 1-3 on the season...they won two events against Northwestern and Purdue in their last competition and posted nine new top times.
Texas A&M: The Aggie men are ranked 16th in the nation, with an even 2-2 slate...Senior Zach Widener and freshman Andrew Sullivant led the latest charge against Louisiana-Monroe, by each capturing a pair of victories...The women's team at A&M are currently 4-2 and ranked 23rd in the country...They dominated Louisiana-Monroe one week ago, winning all 14 events in a 173-115 win.
K THEM UP!
Nine members of the Spartan swimming and diving program have garnered first-place finishes this season. Joe Brennan leads the charge with six event titles apiece.

LEADING THE WAY
The Michigan State swimming and diving program has announced its captains for the 2002-03 season. Seniors Joe Brennan and Nick DeFauw will captain the men's squad, while Stephanie Anisko and Kate Duncombe were selected to lead the women's team.
