Men's Soccer Ousted From Big Ten Tournament

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - After defeating Ohio State in dramatic fashion in its opening-round game, the sixth-seeded Michigan State men's soccer team fell in the semifinals of the Big Ten Soccer Championships to No. 2 seed Michigan, 1-0, Friday night (Nov. 15) in State College, Pa. The Spartans are now 12-7 while Michigan improves to 11-6-2. Michigan advances to the championship game to take on Penn State on Sunday.
The game's only goal came just over 11 minutes into the match, as Mike White headed in a corner kick from Adam Bruh.
State outshot the Wolverines by a count of 6-5 in the first half but the Green and White registered just one shot in the second half and were outshot in the game, 12-7.
All-Big Ten goalkeeper Tyler Robinson (Sr., Lansing) made three saves while Michigan goalkeeper Peter Dzubay also made three stops.
The Spartans will now await their NCAA Tournament fate. The 48-team field will be announced Monday (Nov. 18) at 4:30 p.m. live on ESPNEWS. Last season, MSU earned its first trip to the tournament since 1969 and advanced to the second round.
