The Michigan State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will have the weekend off from competition, before traveling to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame on Nov. 8. The meet is scheduled for 5 p.m., at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
ANISKO SHINES IN OPENER
Senior co-captain Stephanie Anisko won her first collegiate event at the Illinois Quad on Oct. 26. Finishing with a score of 247.10, Anisko finished first out of 11 competitors on the one-meter.
"It's very exciting for her," Michigan State diving coach Eric Best stated. "All of her hard work has paid off and I am very proud of her."
After competing with Big Ten champion teammates, Carly Weiden and Summer Mitchell for the past three seasons, Anikso is now the leader of the Spartan diving team and is putting that experience to work.
"I expect that this is the first of many wins for Stephanie this season," Best smiles.
CLUTTEN IMPRESSIVE IN WEEKEND DEBUT
Freshman Ian Clutten has made his presence felt on the men's swimming team, claiming two event titles at the Illinois Quad on Oct. 26. Clutten won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, for his first two collegiate first-place finishes.
Clutten also performed well in the men's season opening meet at Indiana. The Capetown, South Africa native was the second fastest competitor in both the 200 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke.
BRENNAN TAKES SPARTANS' FIRST VICTORY OF THE SEASON
Senior co-captain Joe Brennan earned the first event victory of the Spartans' 2002-03 season, winning the 200 freestyle at the season opener against Indiana.
