Women's Soccer Falls To Indiana In Double Overtime

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Michigan State women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Indiana on Friday, Oct. 11, in Bloomington, Ind.With the victory, Indiana improved to 7-3-2 (3-1-2 Big Ten), while the Spartans move to 8-4-0 (4-3-0 Big Ten) on the season.
The two teams battled for 103:14 minutes of scoreless play, before Indiana's Kim Grodek scored an unassisted goal off of a rebound to close the game.
The two teams were evenly matched throughout the game. Michigan State attempted seven shots during the contest, with six being on goal, while the Hoosiers attempted eight shots, three on goal. Both teams were even at six corner kicks apiece. Erin Konheim (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Michelle Perun (Rochester, Mich.) each had a pair of shots on goal, but were unable to get the ball in the net.
MSU netminder Stacey Heller (Madison, Wisc.) had two saves on the night, both coming in the opening period.
The Spartans continue their road trip through Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 13, when they take on Purdue University. The game will begin at 2 p.m. in West Lafayette, Ind.
