TIME CHANGE: Sunday's match against Tulsa, originally slated for noon, has been changed to 10 a.m.
RANKINGS: New ITA tennis rankings will be made available every Wednesday on the ITA website, www.itatennis.com. Individual rankings for the spring will be released starting February 20.
LAST WEEK VS. TOLEDO AND DAYTON: MSU hosted Toledo and Dayton Saturday, January 26, and picked up the same results as the first doubleheader, January 19 against UW-Green Bay and Wright State, by sweeping the Rockets and Flyers, 7-0. Junior Jimmy McGuire and freshman Cameron Marshall picked up two singles wins on the day and juniors Adam Hourani and Goran Topalo teamed up for two doubles victories.
BETTER GET THE FOREMAN: Freshman Andrew Formanczyk is only two wins away from surpassing now-sophomore Eric Simonton's 2000-2001 team-leading 15 singles victories. Formanczyk has compiled a 14-6 record with still three months of competition awaiting the Spartans. He is also on a seven match win streak, with his last loss coming to Purdue's Troy Havens in three sets in the second round of the Big Ten Singles Championships, November 10, 2001.
HODGEPODGE: In his two singles matches in dual meets, sophomore Mike Hodge has picked up victories at the one and three seeds. Hodge was 0-2 and 0-1, respectively, at these positions last year.
CERTAINLY NO JUNK HERE: Sophomore Mike Jonckheere has tied his career high with seven singles victories. He will head into the weekend off an impressive three set victory over Dayton at number three singles.
DOUBLES TAKES AN HOUR: With only four individual doubles victories during the 2000-2001 campaign, junior Adam Hourani has more than doubled his total with nine wins this season. He is 4-1 with Hodge and junior Goran Topalo and also picked up a victory with junior Jimmy McGuire.
NO JIMMY LEGS: Jimmy McGuire has been able to provide coach Gene Orlando some lineup comfort by successfully winning one match at two, four, five and six singles each.
