Bloomington, Ind. - In the first of a two-day affair with Indiana and Penn State, the women's swimming and diving team will head into the final day of competition trailing the Hoosiers, 93-36, and the Nittany Lions, 89-40.
Diver Carly Weiden (Sr. Kentwood, Mich.) edged out Indiana's Sara Reiling (312.35-311.90) in the one-meter board. She also captured first in the three-meter dive (303.95) to sweep both diving events.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, none of the swimmers were able to pick up any first or second place times. The best finish came from freshman Jen Windstein (Lancaster, Pa.) who placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.81.
MSU will conclude its trip to Indiana Saturday (Jan. 26) with the first session beginning at 10 a.m. and the second at 3:30 p.m. The tri-meet is set up to resemble the Big Ten Championships, which get underway Feb. 21 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
