Women's Soccer Shut Down By Illinois

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's women's soccer team (3-3-1, 0-2) was defeated by host Illinois (4-2, 2-0), 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Champaign, Ill. Illinois tallied a goal in each half to hand the Spartans their second Big Ten loss.
Michigan State was unable to put much pressure on Illinois goalkeeper Leisha Alicia, who made just one save. Michigan State's Stacy Heller (Madison Wis.) had 13 saves in the contest.
Illinois' Tara Hurless opened the scoring at the 28:52 mark of the first-half, on a pass from Hollie Schurr. The Fighting Illini struck again just 1:13 into the second half and never looked back from there.
Michigan State's women's soccer team returns to action on Friday, September 28th, at 4pm EDT at Old College Field.
