Michigan State Men's Golf Prepares for FirstEnergy Intercollegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team travels to Ravenna, Ohio, to compete in this weekend's FirstEnergy Intercollegiate, hosted by Kent State University. The tournament will be played Friday and Saturday at Windmill Lakes Golf Club. Windmill Lakes is a par-70, 6,936-yard layout.
The Spartans return to action after posting a top-five finish at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last week (April 14-15). Michigan State shot a team score of 901 (300-300-301) and finished eight shots back of tournament champion and host Ohio State.
Michigan State continues to receive solid play from senior co-captain Dennis Riedel (St. Clair, Mich.) Riedel finished tied for sixth place overall in the Robert Kepler Invitational. His three-round score of 222 included a first round score of 68.
Schools from the Big Ten and Mid-American Conferences dominate the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate 19-team field. Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue and Wisconsin will represent the Big Ten.
The FirstEnergy Intercollegiate features a three-round, 54-hole format. Action gets underway Friday (April 20) with a shotgun start. The first two rounds will be played on Friday with the final 18 holes scheduled for Saturday (April 21).
