Women's Soccer Shuts Out Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Michigan State women's soccer team (5-4-2, 2-3-1) defeated Ohio State (4-7-0, 1-4), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. Michigan State goalkeeper Stacy Heller (So., Madison, Wis.) recorded her fourth shutout of the season as the Spartans earned their first Big Ten road win of the year.
Spartan senior Emily Clarke (Naperville, Ill.) provided the only goal of the game, finding the back of the net from 10 yards out at the 87:00 mark. Libby Kelly (Jr., Saginaw) and Adrienne Treado (Fr., Troy) assisted on the goal.
Heller proved to be the Spartan star of the game, making 10 saves in recording her third shutout in Big Ten play. In the second half alone, Heller made eight stops. For the game, Ohio State outshot Michigan State, 17-7.
Michigan State returns to action on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. EDT vs. Purdue at Old College Field.
