Women's Swimming And Diving Defeats Oakland, 137-98

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swimming and diving team defeated Oakland, 137-98, Wednesday night for its first victory of the season. MSU improves its record to 1-1.
Katie Duncombe (Jr., Erie, Pa.) took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.54) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.33). Jen Windstein (Fr., Lancaster, Pa.), in only her second collegiate meet, placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:17.45) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.62).
Carly Weiden (Sr., Kentwood, Mich.) placed first in the 1-meter diving event for the second consecutive meet (271.40). Weiden also placed first in the 3-meter event (333.45).
MSU took first place in eight of the 13 events, including the 400-yard medley relay (3:54.46).
The MSU women's swimming and diving team returns to action Friday, Oct. 26, in a duel meet at Eastern Michigan beginning at 5 p.m.
