Women's Soccer Victorious Over Iowa In Overtime

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team remains undefeated after beating Iowa 2-1, in overtime on Friday, Sept. 22 in Iowa City. MSU is now 7-0-1 overall (2-0-0 Big Ten) and continuing to build on the best start in school history, while the Hawkeyes drop to 6-3-0 overall (1-2-0 Big Ten). The game marked the second time this season that the Spartans have won a game in overtime.
Michigan State freshman Tiffany Laskowski (Troy) got the Spartans on the board first, with a goal at the 7:05 mark in the first half off of an assist by freshman Andrea Sied (Livonia). The Hawkeyes responded in the second half with a goal off of a penalty kick by Linzy Wolman at 82:45 to tie the score.
Laskowski, who had seven shots during the game, scored the winning goal in overtime at the 94:24 mark off an assist by junior Nicole LePlae (Brighton).
Michigan State senior goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington) made seven saves during the game. Kloosterman has made 40 saves and given up only five goals this season.
The Spartans will return to action Sunday, Sept. 24 against Illinois in Champaign (2:00 p.m.).
