Men's Soccer Suffers First Lost of the Season

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team lost its first game of the season Friday, September 15 to Loyola Marymount by a score of 2-0. The Spartans drop to 4-1, while Loyola improves to 4-1.
Loyola's Arturo Torres scored the game's first goal when he fired a shot past Spartan keeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sr., Sterling Heights). Spencer Reeves made it 2-0 in favor of LMU at the 64:46 mark on a shot from the right side. MSU finished the games with nine shots while Loyola Marymount finished with 14. Lieckfelt had seven saves for the Spartans on the defensive end while Scott Babinski (Jr., Livonia) led the Spartans in shots with seven.
Michigan State will try to rebound this Sunday at 3:30 p.m. when they take on Gonzaga in the final game of the Loyola Marymount Fila Cup tournament.
