MSU Men's Golfers Finish Sixth At Nebraska Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished tied for sixth at the Fairway Club Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska at the Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln. The Spartans ended the two-day event tied with Lamar with a three-round score of 910. Sam Houston State won the event by compiling a three-round score of 882.
The Spartans struggled as a whole over the tournament's last 18 holes, shooting a collective 307 on Tuesday. Only Louisiana-Lafayette, with a final-round 314, recorded a higher score.
MSU's Eric Jorgensen shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday. He finished the tournament with a three-round score of 77-73-71--221, good for an eighth-place tie among individual competitors. The Spartans' John Koskinen shot a final-round 79 and closed the event tied for 27th place with 74-75-79--228. Brent Goik (79-73-79--231), Nathan Clark (74-81-79--234) and Dennis Riedel (78-79-78--235) rounded out the MSU contingent. Kansas State's Bryan Milberger took individual honors with a score of 214.
The Spartans travel to Minneapolis next week to take part in the PSINET Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Minnesota. The two-day event starts Monday.
