Women's Golf Takes 5th at Indiana Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team took fifth place at the Indiana Invitational held in Bloomington, Ind., at the par-74, 6,134 yard Indiana University Golf Course. The Spartans shot 231-331=652 in the 36-hole tournament, which was shorted due to inclement weather on Saturday. Indiana, which was in first place after the first day, won the tournament with a score of 314-323=637 while Ohio State and Wisconsin rounded out the top three.
Kasey Gant (Jr., Ft. Wayne, Ind.) and Emily Bastel (So., Upper Sandusky, Ohio) tied for 11th place, each having fired a two-round total of 160. Freshman Shellie Morton (Detroit, Mich.), who led the Spartans after day one, finished in a five-way tie for 19th place after shooting 78-85=163.
Jessica Till (Fr., Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished just six shots back of Morton, having fired a 84-85=169. Erin Roe (Fr., Martinsville, Ind.) shot 89-87=176. Sophomore Stacy Snider (Grand Rapids, Mich.), who was disqualified on Friday, bounced back with an 85 on Saturday.
The Spartans will return to action April 22 and 23 at the Lady Buckeye Invitational, held in Columbus, Ohio.
