Men's Tennis Loses Second Match of the Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State was defeated by Ohio State 7-0 on Sunday at the Stickney Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes were coming off a tough 4-3 loss to Michigan, while MSU had just lost to Penn State, 5-2, on Saturday..Ohio State raised its record to 12-9/6-4, while the Spartans fell to 7-19/2-8.
Ohio State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by taking all three doubles matches. The senior teams of Ken Kigongo (Bradenton, Fla.) and Mark Findling (Livonia, Mich.) at No. 1 doubles and Francisco Trinidad (Mexico City, Mexico) and Ivica Primorac (Mosthar, Bosnia) at No. 3, both lost their contests in a tie-breaker.
Unfortunately for Michigan State, the Spartans didn't fair any better in singles play. No Spartans were able to win their matches as the Buckeyes swept through all six matches to win by the final score of 7-0. Ohio State won all of the matches in straight sets.
The Spartans contest against Ohio State was their final regular season match. Michigan State finishes the regular season with a record of 7-19/2-8. Next weekend, MSU will travel to Bloomington, Ind. for the Big Ten tournament.
