Spartan Diver Qualifies For Spring National Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Carly Weiden (Kentwood, Mich.) finished sixth in the 1-meter dive (409 points) at the USA Diving Geographic Zone Championships Saturday, April 8, to qualify for the Spring National Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Weiden also finished 18th in the 3-meter dive among 36 competitors Friday, April 7. Sophomore Summer Mitchell (Troy, Mich.) earned a 10th-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 399.40 points. Mitchell also finished 12th in the 3-meter dive.
Weiden will compete in the 1-meter dive at the Spring National Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., Thursday, April 20.
The Michigan State men and women's swimming and diving team received Academic All-America team honors from the College Swim Coaches Association. The men's team was first in the Big 10 and sixth in the country in team GPA. The women's team was second in the Big 10 to Purdue and 15th in the country.
