Men's Golf Finishes Dr. Pepper Invitational in Fifth

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's men's golf team tied for fifth place in the Dr. Pepper Invitational, held at the Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas. The Spartans shot 286 on the final day, their lowest team score of the year and jumped six spots from Saturday. MSU's three-round total for the tournament was 295-289-286=870. Minnesota won the invitational with a score of 845.
Sophomore Nathan Clark (Mason, Mich.) finished the tournament in eighth place, shooting 71-70-70=211. His pair of 70's are his two lowest rounds of the year. His previous low-round was 72.
Senior Carlos Foulquie (Madrid, Spain) and junior Brent Goik (Bay City, Mich.) each shot 75-72-71=218 and tied for 23rd place. Dennis Riedel (Jr., St. Clair, Mich.) shot 75-75-74=224 while Eric Jorgensen (Fr., Big Rapids, Mich.) shot 74-77-75=226.
The Spartans next action will also take place in Texas as they will play in the Border Olympics March 31 and April 1 in Laredo, Texas.
