EIGHT IS ENOUGH: It's been awhile since the Spartans have seen the win column. After raising its record to one match above .500 with a win over Wright State on February 19, the MSU men's tennis team has lost eight matches in a row, falling to 5-12/0-1 overall. It's not as if Michigan State has been falling to untalented schools. All eight of the losses in a row have come against ranked opponents. As a matter of fact, eleven of the twelve Spartan losses have come against ranked teams. It doesn't get any easier for Michigan State as its next five matches come against ranked squads. Currently, eight of the teams in the Big Ten are ranked, according to the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Men's Tennis Team Rankings.
HEALTHY CHOICE: For the first time this dual season, Michigan State looks to be healthy. Francisco Trinidad is back in the line-up for the first time since an injury pulled him out of competition at the Big Ten Indoor Championship in January. Other Spartans have been battling various nagging injuries and look to be feeling much better. Now it is a just a matter of people settling into their roles and getting comfortable in their positions. Due to all of the injuries the Spartans have experienced, they have not been able to settle on a set singles or doubles line-up.
SERVED UP NEXT: Next on the Spartans' plate is another Big Ten road trip. MSU travels to No. 74 Northwestern on Saturday, April 1 at 12:00 p.m. to do battle against the Wildcats. Sunday, April 2, the Spartans compete at No. 5 Illinois. Michigan State winds up its eleven-match road trip with a match-up against rival Michigan on April 5 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
