Spartan Women's Gymnastics Takes Third at Wolfpack Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Michigan State women's gymnastics team tallied the fourth highest team total in school history with a 195.550 to take third at NC State's Wolfpack Invitational on Saturday, March 11. NC State won the Invitational with a 197.725, followed by Denver (196.425), MSU, Ball State (194.525), North Carolina (190.450), Pennsylvania (190.950) and Yale (190.925).
Junior Melissa Green tied the school record on the uneven bars with a 9.975 to tie for first. She also hit a 9.925 on the floor. Senior Polly Kiker tied for fourth on the bars with a 9.875. Kiker also tied for second on the balance beam (9.900) and, despite a school-record tying score of 9.975 on the floor, placed third in that event. Junior Elisabeth Forshier also placed, tying for fifth on the vault with a 9.850.
MSU's vault (48.825) and bars (49.150) scores were both second best on the season.
The Spartans travel to State College, Pa., for the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 18.
