Spartan Women's Swim Team Shines In Last Chance Meet

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swimming and diving team finished second in the 2000 Michigan Co-ed Intercollegiate meet Sunday, Feb. 27 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Spartans earned 102 points, with Illinois finishing first with 110 points.
Senior Dianne Oliver (Louisville, Ky.) finished second in the 50 short-course meter freestyle with a time of 27.40.
Sophomores Ashby Baldock (Talahassee, Fla.), Christine Rutter (Coral Springs, Fla.), Ildiko Szekely (Budapest, Hungary) and Oliver took second in the 200 medley relay (2:03.62).
Rutter took fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.04), while Baldock placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.03. Szekely captured first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:17.14.
The MSU women's diving team will be competing at the NCAA Diving Regionals on March 10-11 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Friday's (March 10) competition begins at 11 a.m. Saturday's (March 11) session starts at 10 a.m.
