Men's Gymnastics Trio Set to Head West

EAST LANSING, Mich.- - Spartan gymnasts Jonathan Plante (So., Easton, Pa.), Brad Golden (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) and Jamie Shepard (Fr., Dayton, Ohio) will all compete in the Winter Cup, held in Las Vegas, Nev. The event is hosted by U.S.A. Gymnastics and is the first step in qualifying for the Olympics. The top 14 finishers will automatically earn a spot on the U.S. National Team. This is the most Spartans that have ever competed in the meet.
Plante is ranked first in the nation on the pommel horse and has already hit a school record 9.950 twice this season. Golden's 56.225 in the all-around competition is the highest for any Spartan this year. He also has MSU's highest score on the vault (9.600). Shepard has competed in all of MSU's meets this season.
The Spartans next team meet will be Sunday, February 20 when the host Illinois-Chicago at 3 p.m.
