East Lansing, Mich. - The MSU men's soccer team earned six selections to the All-Big Ten team for the 2000 season, more than any other team. Head coach Joe Baum, who is in his 24th season, was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time in his career, previously earning the honor in 1996.
Steve Arce (Jr., Windsor, Ont.), John Benoist (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) and goalkeeper T.J. Liekfelt (Sr., Sterling Heights) were named first team All-Big Ten. Arce led the Spartans in assists with seven and was second on the team in points with 11. Benoist, who earned first team all-Big Ten honors last season, captained the Spartans this season and contributed four goals. Lieckelt allowed just 16 goals this season and had 4.5 shutouts, including two and a half in conference play.
Steve Williford (Sr., Livonia), John Minagawa-Webster (Fr., Monroe) and Scott Babinski (Jr., Livonia) all earned second team All-Big Ten honors. Williford contributed four goals this season, two of which were overtime winners in back-to-back games against Loyola-Chicago and Michigan.
