Michigan State Women's Soccer Honored By Big Ten

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team was awarded for its performance this season when MSU head coach Tom Saxton and senior goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington, Mich.) received Big Ten Conference honors on November 2.
Saxton was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time during his career, after leading the Spartans to a 12-6-2 record overall (5-4-1 Big Ten). Saxton, who has compiled a record of 92-90-15 during his 10 years of coaching at MSU, was also named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1994 when MSU finished with a 12-5-2 record overall (5-1-1 Big Ten).
Kloosterman was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten as a goalkeeper. Kloosterman finished the season with the MSU record for career shutouts (16.5). She was awarded Big Ten Player of the Week on October 9, after recording back-to-back shutouts over Northwestern and Michigan. She finished the season with 101 saves, 7.5 shutouts and a goals-against-average of 0.79.
