Champions Crowned At Spartan Cup.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Eastern Michigan's Lisa D'Amelio captured both the A division singles and doubles titles today as play wrapped up at the Spartan Cup women's tennis tournament hosted by Michigan State University.
D'Amelio won the A singles championship by posting a 6-4, 6-1 victory over EMU teammate Simone Duhme. She and partner Rebecca Hawkins were victorious in doubles competition, beating Duhme and Shari Gamarnik 8-6 in the final match.
Other winners on the day included Miami's Erica Echko, who was a 6-4, 6-3 victor over Eastern Michigan's Laura Pegula in the B singles final. Illinois-Chicago's duo of Karen Liwanpo and Zvjezdana Malesevic captured the B doubles title with an 8-2 win over EMU's Amalia Lincaru and Kendra Clark.
Illinois-Chicago's Nicole Derouic took the A consolation crown after opponent Lisa Eidam of Miami retired due to injury in the title match. Eidam had ousted MSU junior Christee Chargot (Port Huron, Mich.) in the consolation semifinals, 6-1, 6-3. Toledo's Marie Craig won the B consolation championship in a walkover against Miami's Catherine Dilley, who also was injured and could not compete in the final match.
