Men's Swimming Finishes Third at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Michigan State men's swimming and diving team placed third at the Eastern Michigan Quad Meet last night in Ypsilanti, Mich. with a final score of 500. Michigan won the invitational with 781 points with Eastern Michigan coming in second and Oakland taking fourth place.
The 400 free relay of senior John Munley, junior Scott Shafer, senior Chad Ganden, and freshman Rick Nichols led the Spartans with the teams only first- place finish by posting a time of 3:07.13.
Munley further aided the Spartans with second-place finishes in the 500 free with a time of 4:29.11 and the 200 free with a time of 1:39.24. Other second place finishers includd Joe Brennan in the 1000 freestyle (9:31.17) and Aaron Mahaney in the 200 butterfly (1:54.12). Philip Hillary placed third in one-meter diving.
The Spartans head to Evanston tomorrow for the Northwestern Relays.
