EAST LANSING, MICH. - The Michigan State men?s soccer team lost the first game of the Hampton Inn-MSU Soccer Classic to IUPU-Indianapolis, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Old College Field on the MSU campus.
The only score of the game came at the 46:14 mark, as IUPUI?s Ben Higginbotham finished a breakaway by sliding a shot past junior goalkeeper Tim Leickfelt (Sterling Heights, Mich.). IUPUI held the lead for the rest of the game, despite Michigan State?s 15-3 shots-on-goal advantage. Junior Mike Trivelloni (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) led the Spartans with four shot attempts.
Michigan State?s record falls to 0-1-1 on the season. The Spartans? next game in the Hampton Inn-MSU Soccer Classic is Monday at 1:00 p.m. against Cleveland State. Tomorrow?s game in the classic features IUPUI against Cleveland State, also beginning at 1:00 p.m.
